Andreas Gabriel, founder and director of WORKSAFE SMARTLTD, was born in Germany and immigrated to New Zealand in 2003. Employed by a commercial construction company, Andreas became increasingly dissatisfied about the standard of workplace Health and Safety in New Zealand. As the Site Safety Officer at his employer’s most demanding construction projects and elected H&S Representative, Andreas contributed to a decrease of incidents/accidents by more than 60% and the company’s accreditation in the ACC WSMP programme at tertiary level. Pursuing his passion, Andreas eventually commenced studies at the Southern Institute of Technology and graduated with a Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. Andreas’s goal as a Health and Safety consultant is to utilize his skills, experience and passion to improve New Zealand’s workplace Health and Safety record. His aim is to reduce the unacceptable number of workplace injuries and fatalities. There is no reason why this cannot be achieved in the near future!
